This is an over-the counter service bar, facing a food court style seating area. It has no dedicated seating of its own. It is located in upscale community mall called The Commons.
The common seating area in front of the bar seats perhaps 60 people.
This bar operates as a satellite of Brew, Beers and Ciders – see https://brewbkk.com/# which is owned by Thai entrepreneur Chris Foo.
The Beer Cap has ten rotating taps – mostly featuring foreign imported craft beers. Brewdog Punk IPA is almost always available – a pint costs 307 baht, including tax!
A row of coolers behind the bar contain upwards of 100 different beers.
Everything is clean and well-maintained. The Commons has a permanent crew continuously busing tables and cleaning up.
The Beer Cap serves no snacks of food of its own. It is a beverage supply station to a common seating area surrounded by upscale food vendors There is Mexican food, Italian food (including pizza), a shop specializing in lobster dishes, a Vietnamese food outlet, a shop specializing in egg dishes, several baked goods outlets, a cheese shop, and – my favorite – a barbecued meat vendor – Meat and Bones – that offer the best pork ribs that I have ever had in Bangkok (but – avoid the beef ribs).
Next door to The Beer Cap is an over-the-counter, by-the-glass wine vendor.
The Commons has a shared toilet area, at right rear of ground floor . Toilet area is large, bright, spotless – among the best of the toilet areas that I have seen in Bangkok.
No smoking inside The Commons – step outside the mall for a cigarette.
There is one video screen, with sound turned off, continuously showing either extreme sports, or humorous or dramatic video clips.
Easy-listening pop music is played at subdued level – nothing to disrupt conversation. The Commons sometimes has a guitarist/vocalist – or a duo – playing live music – and that sometimes gets a bit loud.
The clientele here is evenly split between upper-class Thais, and expatriates. Families tend to show up on weekends.
The Commons has it own parking garage on site.
The distributed layout makes it difficult to strike up a conversation here. Good place for a group to come. Vendors are pleasant, efficient, and attentive.
