Newly opened in July 2018, Splash is a combination bar, coffee shop, restaurant – and it even has two hotel-style rooms upstairs, for overnight guests.
This venue is located off of Udom Suk Road, Sukhumvit Soi 103, about 1.6 km east of Sukhumvit Road. It is located a retail development that sits back about 30 meters from the main road , with ample off-street parking directly in front of all shop spaces:
To get to this bar, travel to Udom Suk BTS Station, and descend to street level using the stairway at Exit 3. Upon reaching street level, double-back around to your right 180 degrees, and proceed twenty five meters straight ahead, then cross Udom Suk Road, and turn left. You now need to walk a little over 1.5 km, until you cross Udom Suk Soi 34. About 30 meters past that soi, you will come to a retail development to your right, with large illuminated letters along the sidewalk identifying the strip shopping center as the “Master @ BTS Udom Suk”. The shops are well away from Udom Suk Road, with a parking lot that runs in front of the individual units for about 300 meters. Splash is located in a shop unit that about 200 meters beyond Soi 34. Up close:
The main bar area is quite compact. There are five stools along the bar, plus a couple of seats made from cut-away barrels:
If they get busy, they can also put out some “barrel-style” tables and stools:
The view from far end of the bar, looking toward the entrance:
The bar has five draft beer taps – only three of which were in use on the night of my visit. They also have a double-wide beer cooler with maybe 60 different craft beers in bottles and cans.
There is also an upstairs section, accessed via a stairway at the rear of the bar, and which overlooks the downstairs area:
The upstairs area can seat about 16 people:
There is one video screen on each level. During my visit, music videos were playing – playing both international pop and Thai pop music.
This venue serves a limited food menu – they are “famous” for their “all -day breakfast” – western-style.
They also allow food to be ordered from nearby restaurants.
Smoking is permitted only outdoors, in front of the bar.
The very friendly and gracious owner is Khun Jeab, who opened this bar after returning to Thailand from Sydney Australia, where she had lived for 17 years. She obviously speaks fluent English. Here she is, hosting my visit:
Khun Jeab indicated that most of her clientele thus far had been Thais.
There is a toilet located in the back section of the ground floor. It is compact, but is also spotlessly clean and bright.
This is a nice little bar, and it could use some more business!
