Garden 52 is a recent addition to the Onnut craft beer and restaurant scene, having opened in January 2018.
To reach this venue, travel to Onnut BTS Station, and then head toward Exit 4. But – continue past that exit to the far Eastern end of the station platform, where it merges with an overhead pedestrian bridge that crosses Sukhumvit Road. Turn right as you reach that pedestrian crossing, and proceed onward, and then down to street level. At street level, move ahead two steps and turn left into a Tesco Driveway – where the red arrow is pointing below, and then turn left:
Proceed ahead 30 meters to Sukhumvit Soi 52, and exit the driveway where the red arrow is pointing below, then turn right:
After turning right, walk 70 meters down Soi 52 and you will see Garden 52 on the opposite side of the street:
A close-up of the entrance to the venue:
As you can see in the photo above, there is off-street parking behind the venue.
As you enter, you pass through an outdoor seating area
As you enter the indoor area, you see an airy, high-ceiling room, with the bar and the beer at the far side of the room:
The indoor section is very bright and roomy.
There are six taps for draft beer – here is close-up of the overhead tap-list (and it obviously does not emphasize craft beer):
But – they have three large beer cooler cabinets, holding roughly 100 different beers, of which 30 are German weizen beers and Belgian beers, a handful are Thai mass-market lagers, and 65 are legitimate craft beers – Stone, 8-Wired, Kona, Ballast Point, Belching Beaver, Brewdog, Happy New Beer, Rogue, Deschutes, Melvin,Mikkeller, Crew Republic, Red Dot, Coronado, Off The Rail.
Here is a close up of their beer coolers, and draft beer taps:
The passageway to the toilets is off to the left of the beer coolers, as you face them:
There are separate men’s and women’s toilets, facing into a common anteroom, with common hand-washing facility – the toilets are clean and well-maintained:
This venue has a full kitchen, offering a broad menu:
The indoor area has three seats at the bar, two tables seating six persons each, two tables seating three persons each, and four tables seating two persons each. There is also and L-shaped counter along the window at the front of the bar, with four seats:
There is one video screen – it was showing an EPL football match when I visited. Music was contemporary western pop music, played at moderate level.
Exterior seating has five tables for four persons each, plus two tables for two persons each:
Service was responsive, but servers have minimal English language ability. A manager did stop in, and she spoke excellent English – she indicated that the Thai owner operates a university placement business, placing Thai students into foreign universities. She also indicated that the venue’s clientele was about 50% Thai, 30% Chinese visitors, and 20% westerners.
If you are in the vicinity of Onnut BTS Station, this is a good place to visit.
