Craft Silom is sister bar to the larger Craft outlet on Sukhumvit Soi 23. It is located on the ground floor of the Holiday Inn Silom, on the side of the hotel that faces onto Surasak Road. To get to it, ride the BTS to Surasak Station, and exit the station using Exit 1. Once you reach street level, double back to your left, 180 degrees, and walk 100 meters along Sathorn Road to Surasak Road, where you turn right, passing behind the large Police box that sits on the corner of that intersection. You then walk along Surasak Road for 400 meters – it takes six or seven minutes. You will pass the large Jewelry Trade Center complex on your right – and soon thereafter, up ahead, you will see:
Walk past that sign, and turn right, and you will enter the bar through this area:
The interior looks like this:
With a crowd, viewed from the other end of the room:
They have 20 draft beers on tap:
The beers available are listed on an overhead chalkboard, but they are also cataloged in unique sort of portfolio beer menu:
For each beer on tap, they have an individual description card:
Note that all pricing here is “++”. Remember – that adds 18% to your final bill.
They do offer tasting flights:
They have kitchen here, with a limited menu:
The bar seats 24 inside – four tables with four seats each, plus eight seats at the bar. The kitchen is at the far end of the room.
There is a cooler with bottled beers – 18 different beers:
Outside there is a rail overlooking Surasak Road, with six seats:
There were 26 other seats at tables outside:
Across a wide plaza, there were two additional eight-man tables available.
I visited on a Sunday, and things were quiet. All customers that I saw were foreigners. The bartender indicated that lot of customers were business visitors attending events in Bangkok, and staying at the Holiday Inn, or other nearby high-end hotels.
Like its sister bar at Sukhumvit, Craft at Silom is part of a complex that includes a Whisgars Cigar and Whiskey lounge. The Silom branch also has a cocktail lounge called Belle’s Room, and an ice lounge and vodka bar called -13:
Parking is available at the Holiday Inn. Smoking is permitted only in the outdoor section. There did not appear to be any video screens at the time of my visit (May 2017). The music playlist was rock music from 70’s through the 90’s, played at a comfortable level. I hadn’t heard “Rock Me Like A Hurricane” by The Scorpions in a long time!
The toilets for Craft are in the Whisgars building across the plaza. When you enter Whisgars, the bar is to your left, and the toilets are behind a pool table to your front:
A view of the bar from across Surasak Road:
One note: As I left, I went around to the Silom side of the Holiday Inn. It appears that a larger Craft is being built into the corner and Silom side of the ground floor, at the Silom/Surasak intersection – maybe 50 meters from the current site.
