Beer Belly just barely makes it into the category of craft beer bar. They have a total of about 36 taps, with maybe 25 different draft beers represented – but on a recent visit, other than a couple of Belgian brands (Vedett and Le Chouffe), and Japanese brands (Hitochino and Coedo) the only two beers that I would classify as craft beers were Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA, and a Coronado Orange Amber Wit:
The draft beers here are very expensive, but prices are nett – no “++” pricing.
Beer Belly is located within the 72 Courtyard lifestyle plaza located at street address …. 72 Sukhumvit Soi 55 – aka Soi Thonglor. At that location, which is 1.3 km north of Sukhumvit Road, on the east side of Soi 55, the complex looks like this:
To reach Beer Belly, you walk to the left of the staircase visible behind the right-most Thai flag in the above photograph, and then bear right – and Beer Belly occupies virtually the entire right side of the open-air plaza that lies between the two buildings.
To reach 72 Courtyard, travel to Thonglor BTS Station, then exit using Exit 2. Upon reaching street level, double back around 180 degrees to your right, and walk back 60 meters to Soi Thonglor – cross the street and turn left. You now have a 1.3 km walk – so about 20 minutes. 72 Courtyard is located mid-way between Thonglor Sois 16 and 18.
This is a venue where the beer taps and the main bar are in open air (but partly under overhead cover) in a courtyard, with some outdoor seating – but most of the bar is indoors, in a large, high-ceiling room.
There is a spot where beers can be passed through to the inside from the outside taps:
They also have two sets of indoor taps, most of which duplicate each other, and they also duplicate some of the taps outside. Here is one of inside taps;
Outdoors, they have 20 draft beers on tap:
The main interior room has a pool table, a table tennis (ping pong) table, and a foosball table. They also have darts, and even Jenga, chess, and Go!
Live bands perform on stage at one end of the indoor room.
Toilets are indoor, in the corner nearest to the ping-pong table.
They do have food here:
They have a Happy Hour:
There are no provisions for parking here.
Note: Beer Belly is located less than 150 meters east of The Beer Cap at The Commons Mall on Thonglor Soi 17, and it is also located less than 150 meters north of House of Beers (HOBs) at the Thonglor Soi 16 intesection with Soi Thonglor.
OK – let me try explaining to would-be commenters what this website is all about. It is about:
1. People who are interested in craft beer.
2. People who are presently (or were recently) in Bangkok, Thailand
Unless BOTH of the above conditions apply to you – then WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?????
If the answer is that you are trying to get your “this is what I do/sell” website included in your “commentor’s identity” tag line – you need to know that in 2019, I sent about 6,850 such comments into SPAN or TRASH. I am not interested in “intelligent, but irrelevant thoughts” – all I care about are comments about craft beer, or about visits to posted locations in Bangkok.
Now – am I a purist? Well – not really. The first guy (or gal) who sends US $50 to the PayPal account firstname.lastname@example.org, including stating their identify, will get their next “inappropriate” comment approved. The second contributor needs to send US $75 – and I raise the limit by US $25 for each contributor who joins the queue – until I have received the fourth contribution. After #4, the rate become US $150 per comment – for everyone else, until January 1, 2021. “Zero comments” is fine – I never expected parasites to make comments – ever.
