This bright, cheerful bar just celebrated its grand opening in August 2017. For a really excellent photo spread highlighting this bar, please see: BKK Menu – Alt + Tap Everyday Bar . This bar is located on the ground floor of the Mobicom office building, and is just off the sidewalk, along Narathiwat Road, 225 meters east of Sathorn Road:
To reach this bar, travel via BTS to Chong Nonsi Station. Depart the station via Exit 5, which will take you along a 200 meters long skywalk that passes over Sathorn Road. When the skywalk ends, climb the steps up to the platform that covers the road intersection below. – but continue in a straight line. At the far side of the platform, stay to your left, and then take the stairs down to street level, continuing in the same easterly direction, so that you continue in the direction of Narathiwat Road. Once you reach the sidewalk, continue straight ahead for 225 meters. Once you pass the brightly lit, yellow-themed Limoncello restaurant on your left, you have 50 meters to go to Alt + Tap, which will also be on your left, overlooking the sidewalk.
The exterior view as you approach the bar from Sathorn:
The entrance is after you pass the above scene – look for a small sign pointing into the office building lobby, with the entrance to the bar to your left, as you enter the lobby.
The bar has a high ceiling:
In the photo above, note the kitchenette fume hood at left rear – they do serve a limited food menu here:
There are ten draft beer taps available:
They have an illustrated beer menu describing their draft offerings:
There is also a double-wide cooler containing about 75 different bottled craft beers:
There are six seats at the bar, three four-person tables, one three-person table, one two-person table, and one table that seats six (three in chairs, and three on a bench, as seen in the foreground of the photo below) :
On a crowded evening, it looks like this:
The bar has one video screen, and on Saturdays, that screen is given over to English Premier League football matches, according to the owner, Khun Nor, who tends bar. During my visit on a Thursday, they were screening a movie: “A Beautiful Mind”. Khun Nor decorates with movie posters – “Pulp Fiction” on one wall, with a “Trainspotting” poster on the opposite wall.
The music here is played at a comfortable level, and spans several genre: jazz, alternative pop, and some easy-listening music.
Khun Nor indicated that weekday clientele is about 60% Thai, 40% foreign, with the Thai percentage increasing to 80% on Saturdays.
No smoking here, and no particular provisions for smokers. The bar has no entrance off the street – you must enter via a small lobby to the Mobicom building, with a security desk tucked into one corner.
To reach the toilets, you exit the bar, turn left, and take three steps to the base of the stairs. Turn right up the stairs, and once you reach the top of the stairs, the toilet entrance is right in front of you. Clean, bright, well-maintained, with both a sit-down toilet, and a urinal.
There is parking available off Narathiwat Soi 7 nearby, on a side-street, in vicinity of the Limoncello Restaurant.
